Swans crash to earth after Tigers claw back 42-point lead
HERMIT Park may have stalled their start but it was Curra who were punished when their game broke down at halftime of their final regular-season RSM AFL Townsville clash.
Up by 42-points at the first term and holding the Tigers scoreless, the Swans looked to be doing it easy.
But their hopes of getting the better of the yellow-and-black came to a screeching halt, kicking just 1.9 for the remainder of the game to implode 11.8 (74) to 7.17 (59) at Neil French Oval.
While they could only come up with a solitary second-quarter goal, the Swans held the advantage in the scrappy affair until the final term when the Chas Reinhardt and Andrew Grubba-inspired Hermit Park blew by the tri-colours for a confidence-building come-from-behind win on the eve of the finals.
Likewise, minor-premiers Thuringowa left it late to get the better University 12.14 (86) to 9.8 (62) at Tony Ireland Stadium on Saturday.
HERMIT PARK 0.0 6.2 7.2 11.8 (74)
CURRA 6.8 7.8 7.12 7.17 (59)
